I really enjoyed working on this project. The client loves the art deco style and had bought an apartment in a 1920’s building. We re-did the kitchen, bathroom and added an attic. I incorporated deco elements into my design for the new spaces – the curves of the kitchen cupboards and bathroom vanity are inspired by the graceful lines of the P & O style.
The bathroom was transformed into a dramatic and elegant space. Small mosaic tiles were used to create symmetrical rectangles that accentuated the height of the ceiling. The precision of the tiles were balanced by the organic swirls present in the marble used on the floor and as a vanity and bath top.
I have used these Vistosi lights on a couple of projects. We grouped them above the dining table to form a glossy, sculptural chandeleir.
The chairs are from the 1920’s and were re-upholstered in a Schumacher fabric and piped in a contrasting grosgrain ribbon.
