India

Angus and I went to India at the end of June. I have always wanted to go and leapt at the chance to join a group trek organised by Angus’s school to visit a school they built in the mountains in the North of India. All was wonderful until we reached Leh – Ladakh 3500m above sea level. Angus got altitude sickness and we ended up flying out to Delhi. I never wore the trekking shoes but a couple of silk dresses I had packed just in case got a work out! We stayed in the most wonderful hotel – The Imperial, built in the 1920’s by the English it is an extraordinarily well maintained example of colonial deco. I am planning to go back and travel to Rajasthan – I loved the country and was overwhelmed by the scale and beauty of the architecture.
